This is our first of what will hopefully become many quarterly newsletters to keep all friends, family, donors and supporters of Veteran Outreach up to date with  current news and information. It is important to us to ensure this as without you and your efforts Veteran Outreach would not exist. To date, we have raised $1,575 from your individual contributions.

Studies now show that 1 in 3 Veterans are returning home in need of mental health services, and according to the Department of Defense, 1.53 million troops have served as of April 2007. Let us not forget our common goal to provide assistance to our Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans, as well as their spouses and children. Our  actions today will have a long lasting affect upon our national community. We thank you for your generous and continued support.

Best wishes in 2008,

Veteran outreach ready to go

It has been just over 5 months since we began the  process and took Veteran Outreach from an idea and belief to an organization prepared to begin operations. There have been many milestones achieved during this time, but one in particular is of significant importance. In early December Veteran Outreach received its     official IRS Determination Letter designating the     organization as a 501(c)(3) public charity. This has and will continue to open many doors for funding and    support from private foundations and allows any and all contributions made to Veteran Outreach to be tax     deductable.

Veteran Outreach recently submitted an article for   inclusion in the Texas Mental Health Counselors  newsletter. We are proud to report that it was accepted and will be included. This article, in the form of a    letter, discusses a study by The Journal of the American Medical Association and data collected from Veterans post-deployment. It also introduces members of the Texas Mental Health Counselors to Veteran Outreach, our mission, and purpose.
